Malta patients are treated with dignity and respect by volunteer providers and nurses.The Malta House of Care mobile medical clinic provides high-quality, free primary health care to uninsured adults in Greater Hartford, always treating patients with dignity and respect. The big, white Malta van visits several different neighborhoods each week (two in Hartford, one in East Hartford). Click here for locations and hours.

There are three criteria to be a patient at Malta House:

  • You must be age 18 or older
  • You may not have insurance of any kind
  • You must bring a picture ID with proof of local residency

Malta is a walk-in clinic; patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. If you speak a language other than English or Spanish, please bring an English-speaking friend or family member to act as an interpreter.

Our primary health care is provided by a dedicated group of volunteer doctors, nurses, and other
medical professionals. Patient services include the following:

  • Physical examinations, including work and school physicals for adults (we do not provide DOT or immigration exams)
  • Vaccinations, including influenza, Pneumovax, and Tdap
  • Diagnosis and treatment of chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol
  • Pap smears, mammograms, and bone density tests for women
  • PSA testing for men
  • Management of acute conditions, such as sore throat, upper respiratory infection, urinary tract infection, headache, and muscle strain
  • Laboratory tests, including blood, urine, and A1C
  • Medications at low or no cost
  • Education and Health Coaching for chronic conditions (diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, high cholesterol)
