Malta House of Care Legacy Society is a planned giving program that will provide long-term support for the Malta House of Care of Greater Hartford.

Currently, it costs $87,500 per month to keep the Malta van on the road – yet Malta’s services are provided at no cost to patients. This is possible because of tremendous financial and in-kind support from generous benefactors, as well as partnerships with medical providers and pharmaceutical companies for low- or no-cost services and medications. Planned gifts will help Malta sustain its mission without interruption, regardless of any changes in its current support structure. You can help to provide this solid and lasting support with a long-term gift, enabling us to offer high-quality, compassionate, free primary health care to uninsured adults for as long as the need exists.
The Malta House of Care Legacy Society, established in 2018, honors those who have included Malta House of Care in their estate planning through charitable bequests, trusts, or other provisions. Through a provision in your will, you can bequeath to Malta House of Care a specific amount of money or a percentage of your estate. The language for this provision should be:
“I give (x dollars or x percentage of the residue of my estate) to Malta House of Care, Inc., 136 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT 06105 – Tax ID 20-3562371.”
Most assets pass to your beneficiaries by the terms of your will. But others – such as retirement plans and life insurance – can be directed to Malta House of Care by filling out a “Change of Beneficiary Form” provided by your plan’s administrator. If you wish to make a lasting gift to Malta House of Care from your estate, we encourage you to contact your financial advisor for assistance. We would also be happy to refer you to qualified advisors, if you do not have one. If you have already included Malta House of Care in your will – thank you! And, please let us know. We would love to count you as a member of the Malta House of Care Legacy Society (even if you prefer to remain anonymous publicly).
The Ultimate Safety Net
Since 2006, the Malta House of Care Mobile Medical Clinic has been providing high-quality, compassionate, free primary health care to uninsured adults. Each week, our big white van visits four challenged neighborhoods in Greater Hartford, providing free physicals, diagnostic testing, radiology, medications, and health education to hundreds of uninsured adults who might otherwise turn to the ER – or get no care at all.
Malta receives no local, state, or federal funding; instead, it relies on a small paid staff; dozens of medical volunteers who provide $2 million of in-kind care each year; and thousands of generous people, corporations, foundations, family funds, and non-profit partners like the Archdiocese of Hartford, Saint Francis Hospital, and Hartford Hospital to help fulfill its mission of care. Thank you for considering a long-term legacy gift to Malta!
